My hangar here in Wisconsin is heated with two 125,000 BTU infrared gas
heaters. A Lancair List message some weeks ago noted that infrared heaters
have long wave radiation similar to the suns rays which can be very damaging
to unprotected composite components. Some of my parts are primed with
PolyFiber UV Smooth Prime. Others like wing top surfaces and the fuselage top
are not. I've been in this hangar for about 18 months now and the heaters
have been used almost every day for about nine of those 18 months now. I
talked with Carsten at Lancair about this situation and he doesn't believe
there's a problem. Can anyone comment on this topic or refer me to someone
who can.
