The beautiful little landing light that someone had positioned on the gear
leg and was written up recently had, I believe been custom made from
fibreglass.  I have found "Fog lights" from an automotive store (Canadian
Tire) that can be used without any modification on the gear leg.

They are aluminun die cast and are well made and finished.  They have a 55
watt halogen lamp, but 100 watt is available from auto stores as spares if
you feel that you need the higher wattage.  Being a fog lamp they have a
wide flat beam which is achieved through the use of an internal light
deflector which could be removed if you want a more focussed beam.  The
shape of the lamp, looking on the front of it, is eliptical, the major axis
(Hoizontal) is 2 13/16" and the minor axis is 2 1/4".  the length is 3
15/16".  The lens is a thick bullseye type of lens and is round.  They also
have a neat bracket with adjustment ready to use on the gear leg.  I would
not drill the leg but use good quality SS hose clamps to secure the light.

The importer is

Blazer International
2960 Hart Drive
Franklin Park
IL 60131

Their part number is C6075K and the labelling on the box calls them "Blazer
Hotlights"  They cost me $70 Canadian for the pair which is about  $45 or
thereabouts in real money!  They were on sale at the time and the normal
price is $20 Canadian higher.

If you cannot get them in the States, which might happen in certain areas I
would be willing to buy them up here and ship them to anybody who wants
them on a cost recovereable basis.

Ian Crowe.
