Mike,
Any Oil seeping out of the nose gear strut would worry me. The LNC2 Nose
Strut has been the subject of more Service Bulletins than any other
component used in the whole range of Lancair kits. Furthermore, if
something is wrong, you will probably find out about it at the very worst
moment as I did on my LNC2's first take-off! With disastrous results.
I recommend that, after 3 1/2 years, you send it back to Lancair (Vern
Pifer) for servicing and overhaul up to the latest modification standard.
This will include a self-centring device which may not be included in your
current model. Vern will be able to tell you the price and time it will
take to do this but, believe me, peace of mind alone is worth it. I lost
the front of my LNC2 and my Test Pilot was lucky to get away with his life
when we discovered the nose strut included with my kit way not up to
specification.
Hope this helps,
michael
