Rob Wolf may be right about a safe airplane, but "good flying" could be
another matter. An airplane with a built-in twist in a surface that
influences the trim characteristics will not perform up to it's potential.
Trimming out the influence of the twist will produce unwanted trim drag -
and depending on the amount of out-of-kilter there is in the surface and the
resulting trim required to fly straight - your airplane could be a real dog.
In addition, the roll trim requirements will most likely vary quite a bit
with speed changes, making your approach to the pattern a lot more work
intensive than necessary. If you intend to fly your Lancair in IMC, you
don't want that kind of work load as you transition from cruise to approach.
One pilot's opinion.
