I never liked the original sliders. It seemed that they would side load when
the gear started down. I also buggered up the original HDPE in the kit.
So I went to a local plastics firm and bought some 1/4" scrap Delrin. I put
it in the factory specified location, and added a small piece at right
angles to the main slider. It is located at the position where the SB calls
for a turn in the slider. It is sloped so that the gear leg rides a steady
contour from full up to fully on the straight piece. Side loads are gone.
It's also easier to do than bending.
To mock up the fit, I used Fome-Cor art board. It costs about $5 per sheet,
and cuts with a knife nicely. It also sands well without that horrible brown
dust of masonite. A drop of super glue holds it beautifully.
