Tom,
Remove your engine. I'm really sorry to say this but it must be done in
order to make a proper installation of your mixture control cable assy.
I, fortunately, saw that one coming. It will be almost impossible to
accomplish that mixture cable task with the engine hung. You won't be
satisified with the results.
I originally planned to hang our engine "temporarily" just to make things
fit nicely. I soon found I had so much invested in the "hanging" I couldn't
take it down again. Luckily, the only remaining tasks are to pin the engine
firewall plug wires and rig the throttle and prop cables. The throttle has
me worried but I think I can do it as is. I say that now, ha, ha.
I put on the mixture cable with the engine on its stand and tweaked it until
I (it) was happy, moving the knob in and out stop to stop. When it (I) was
ok, I quit. I used the short arm. I still wonder what is the best: short
arm or long... but lets don't go there now. Bad joke.
I am told the knobs will fit thru the instrument panel negating the
requirement it all be removed prior to panel installation. Boy, I wish our
panel would arrive!
I hope this is some help. I'm an IA and still have many questions on how to
do all this. It's endless. Thankfully there are so many others out there
in IV-P land who are equally lost.
Thanks,
Walter Dodson, IV-P 65%
