Here is another data point for Gary Edwards.

My 235 has the short mount and a IO320 engine with 9.5:1 compression,
standard Lancair baffling,  original 235 cowl with entrance ramps above
the unmodified inlets.  Lower cowl was bumped out to accomodate exhaust
but outlet area is same as before

The inlet area is approx. 33 sq in, and the outlet area is approx.
88 sq in. not counting the effect of the exhaust pipes partly covering
one slot.

I also have a 4" by 1.25" deep NACA duct leading into the oil cooler,
with the oil cooler outlet dumping just in front of the firewall with
no guidance.

I have never seen oil temp above 205, and it is usually around 190.

Cyl head temps run about 375-385 on climb and 325-340 in cruise.  I wonder
if climb temps are low because fixed pitch prop does not allow engine
to produce full horsepower.
