Regarding wood for building jigs:
Have you guys (and Gals) ever seen the beautiful wood that is thrown away
after house framing/finishing is complete? I'm not just talking about 2 foot
cutoffs but nice long (10 foot!) pieces. I've been told that a construction
company cannot reuse wood that has nail holes, so even a fairly long section
of wood with nails every 2 or 3 feet is thrown away. You will also find nice
sections of particle board.
If you are the type of person who likes to scrounge it is a pretty good deal.
I would check local ordinances about removing scrap materials from a
construction site or just simply ask some of the workers if it is ok. Or you
could wear dark colors and work at night...
