Yes, that's right. you cannot hear that stuck starter grinding away with a
noisy unmuffled Locoming in front of your lancair firewall.  The fix.
Install a small LED right above your starter switch.  Ground one wire and
attach the hot lead to the starter at the hot point.  If the solonoid is
stuck you will still have a light one after you disingage the starter
switch.  Easy indicator.  If it is lit, shut down the motor and correct the
problem.
