This is good because you don't get the grinding of the turning pinion on the ring gear as you did with the old Bendix drives. You do not need a separate solenoid IF YOUR WIRING AND STARTER SWITCH ARE OF ADEQUATE CAPACITY. >> This isn't the solenoid I was referring to. Obviously you need one of those. What I was referring to was an electrical solenoid relay, normally one of those intermittent duty relays mounted on the firewall or thereabouts, which allows a low amperage wire from your starter switch to interrupt the current in a big-ass wire coming from the output of the master relay. When Lycoming installs the Sky-Tec starter, they leave the electrical relay attached to the starter motor but wire the solenoid contacts (the control current) to the relay contacts (the switched current) so that the switching function of the relay is bypassed. - Rob Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
