I have just run across the slickest way to splice wires. Tower Hobbies sells
"ProSplice" Quick solder tubes. These are lengths of clear heat shrink
tubing with a solder ring in the middle. You slide the stripped wires in
from opposite ends so that the stripped parts lay through the solder ring
and against each other. You then play your heat gun over them, and in about
30 seconds you have shrunk the tubing and soldered the joint. There is no
fuss trying to get the ends to stay put while being soldered. You don't have
to slide heat shrink over a ragged solder joint. It's that simple. Slide,
heat, and forget.
The clear tubing allows you to see the whole process and verify results. The
heat shrink is strain relief for the solder joint. They come in a variety of
sizes. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P
What else do you want?
