I'm guessing the tubing supplied was most likely 5052-O (as was mine - with which I've had no problems) which should withstand the pressures in the Lancair hydro system, given a proper flare is formed at each connection. Assuming you formed good flares at each connection, the only other thing that could cause said failures is the wrench. I've seen guys really crank down, using the automotive "armstrong method" of tightening a nut on AN fittings way past the recommended torque. Do this and you can cause the flare to extrude and eventually fail. These things should be threaded on until just snug and then taken about 1 or 1 1/2 flats further. Since the tubing is a soft (not weak, but in the -O condition which is fairly soft so it can be flared and easily formed) it will deform inside the fitting if overtightened, ruining the quality of the union.
