I wonder which one and how this can happen. Hope we can get some insights from the builder or pilot who I believe is an LML contributor/member. -Rick Argente >From the NTSB files: NTSB Identification: DEN01LA121 Accident occurred Friday, July 06, 2001 at La Junta, CO Aircraft:Griffith-Boyd Lancair 360, registration: N15EG Injuries: 2 Uninjured. This is preliminary information, subject to change, and may contain errors. Any errors in this report will be corrected when the final report has been completed. On July 6, 2001, approximately 1030 mountain daylight time, a Griffith-Boyd Lancair 360, N15EG, registered to and operated by the pilot, was substantially damaged when it collided with terrain during landing at La Junta Municipal Airport, La Junta, Colorado. The private pilot-in-command and the commercial flight instructor-passenger were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan had been filed for the personal flight being conducted under Title 14 CFR Part 91. The flight originated approximately 0930. Preliminary information indicates the pilot and his friend had been practicing steep turns and stalls and were returning to land at the airport when the accident occurred. The pilot said that he lowered the landing gear and confirmed it was down by noting the change in aerodynamic sounds and three green lights annunciated. When he turned onto final approach, he again confirmed the landing gear was down and that he had three green lights. The pilot said that when the airplane touched down, the landing gear retracted. The airplane skidded 300 feet before leaving the runway, and skidded another 300 feet in the dirt and gravel before coming to a halt in a shallow ditch. The pilot said all three landing gear doors were open. When he turned the master switch on, both solenoids that power the hydraulic system activated. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
