Dear fellow iv-p pilots,
My iv-p just came out of annual and my A&P thinks the cracks around the
door hinges go into the carbon fiber. Every iv-p that I have seen has these
cracks which I assume are coming from the expansion and contraction of the
fuselage during pressurization cycles. I have been told in the past that
these cracks are in the micro only used in the body work. In fact when my
airplane was repainted last year we verified that the cracks were in the
micro when it was sanded down, but I would be interested to know if anyone
is aware of cracks extending into the structural carbon fiber and has it
caused problems. Has anyone had to reinforce their fuselage and if so how
was it done? John Wright iv-p colorado springs
