i modified a westco pump system to use with the jeffco epoxy. the westco
pumps screw right on the plastic jeffco containers in place of the
original caps.  actually, i may have dremeled a hole in a jeffco cap for
the hardner...cant remember.
the westco ratio
is 5:1 and jeffco is 4:1 but i found i could take the pump apart and trim a stop
and get 4:1.this system works well. i like it.  cheap, too.  $15 if i remember
right. at the bottom of the pump is a plastic ball valve.
that means my
hardner reservior is 100% surrounded in plastic: all polyethylene, i
would guess.
But, my hardner is turning brown!  so i am not sure we should blame the
sticky-stuff pump for the darkening of jeffco hardner!
My guess is light exposure is to blame.  my hardner bottle sits out on a
bench that receives a bit of filtered sunlight.  it has been exposed for about
6 months now. the hardener is not very dark, not nearly as dark as maple syrup.
but, i just bought a new supply and the new stuff is noticably lighter.
tests of recent batches dont show any noticable lack of strength, but i
have now switched to the new hardner and will throw a garbage bag over
the bottle each day when i leave......
