I don't understand what engine weight has to do with trim tab or HS
incidence. No matter what engine you install, the CG range is the same, as
is gross weight. The limiting thing is landing performance at max forward CG
and gross, which hopefully will be fine at Lancairs specified numbers. With
a heavier engine you simply will have to install some stuff more aft, and
take some less fuel.
To trim nose up (tab down) at landing actually decreases HS down force. To
make use of your bigger tab you need to trim max nose down (tab up) on
landing to compensate for your heavy engine. But I think this would be a
dangerous technique. The recommended tab size is hopefully sufficient to
trim at all speeds and CG's, so increasing the tab size will only serve to
decrease the deflection......Sven J....L-320 SE-XOP
