I had already installed the HS at 0 degrees incidence, as per the manual,
before this became an issue on the list a year or so ago. I was therefore
very interested in the elevator ange that would be required to generate
the required down force in flight. I installed the IO550N engine, which
of course would make matters worse.
Well C-GFNG has over 50hrs now, and at close to the forward C of G
limit, the elevator counterweight horn is in perfect alignment with the HS.
With more aft C of G, the horn is very slightly above the HS. Surprised
me too.
With regards to the elevator size, I built as per the manual and have found
the size to be more than adequate.
I really love this plane.
