Stu, I made a slip joint for my oil cooler that was ~4" in diameter. The
male portion of the joint is part of the cowling. The male portion is made
of aluminum and the female portion was wet layup formed to mate it. It made
a tight seal. I like the idea that I won't have to reconnect the hose every
time I opened my cowling and I like the large size to allow the high
velocity air to expand before it hits the cooler. you can see it on my web
