As I mentioned earlier, to get more info you will need to contact John at Aircraft Cylinder Repair @ 303-659-7101. CFM does have a direct effect on HP. There is a series of formula that came with the flow bench that converts flow into HP. Do I personally know that the numbers given are exact...no. However, I do know that I've done this procedure on 4 dif engines. And all ran stronger, cooler and smoother. The Feds like it and think it's working. I've found John to be one of the few who can perform this procedure. I believe in last months Kitplanes, in the Engine Beat section there was an article where someone else felt as strong about this as I and listed John in the article. I agree with the HP being determined by chamber swirl and tumble etc., however every engine is effected by these exact same thing. Flow balance will give you a starting point to work from. Pistons - I agree with you that high compression pistons lower your TBO. They tear up your engine due to excessive vibration.
