When filled they took 16.5 in the left and 15.5 in the right. In the past I have put a total of 41 gals in all 3 tanks. I have also verified that my VM 800 Totalizer is accurate to within .2 gal on fillups. This should be verified after every fillup. I watch the Totalizer in combination with the GPS to make sure that I have 45 minutes of planned fuel left on landing. As a cross check, I start looking for an airport to refuel at when both wing tanks are empty. I too like the header tank concept. I have always felt more comfortable when the plane has had more than 2 tanks( LNC2 = 3 tanks, Commanche = 4 tanks and C340 = 7 tanks). >The discussion also confirms my decision to build my LNC2 with the header >tank and sight gauge.
