How many times you do see the blank, glassy stare after telling people you are building an airplane! Yeah buddy, a home made airplane! I am one of the many silent-majority types who am excited every morning to fire up the email and read the thoughts and comments from you guys. There have been, over the last couple of months, many insightful and thought-provoking ideas that can lead to better built Lancairs of all models. If I could define the goal of this forum, it would be to help us all become quality builders and get our respective Lancairs into the air in a "reasonable" period of time. How many of you guys measure, think and re-think (and even re-measure) for untold hours before completing a task? By sharing ideas and frustrations with one another, perhaps we can eliminate many of these wasted hours. Lately, there have been several writings that do absolutely nothing to make any of us better builders. Bashing a builder assist firm because someone thinks their rate is too high helps no one become a better builder. How about the quality of their shop? Bashing Lancair and whiiiining about their build time estimates serves no constructive purpose and certainly makes nobody a better builder. Ya know, we want the Lancair Company to be successful. It is in all of our best interests that Lancair is on top and stays there. We are all intimately and financially tied to the firm for the long run. Let's keep the forum positive, upbeat and share with one another what is happening in our garages and hangars. I am building an ES and hangar 200 feet from Aaron May and his Legacy project. I just completed the installation of Precise Flight speed brakes (after the wings were closed unfortunately), am putting taxi/landing lights in the nose of the main wheel pants and in the leading edge of the wing tips and some other cool stuff. It is great having Aaron next door - having an extra set of hands and eyes is a great help. And yes, someone nearby to whiiiiine with. Let's keep it upbeat guys!
