Tracy talked me = into trying out a 76x88 - same as you will get - just 2" longer as he = initially felt the torque being generated by the C drive would swing it = OK. If not, then I will have Clark cut it back to 74x88. Being as my = aircraft is a bit heavier than yours or Tracy's RV4, the longer prop = just might work out to get it accelerating a bit quicker. Since Tracy = and I had the same static rpm with the previous props (which were the = same made by Performance Prop), I expect I would have the same static he = is getting if I had the 74" which I believe he indicated was around 6200 = rpm or about 1000 rpm higher than with the old 2.14 and 68x72" prop. = That 1000 rpm increase will translate into approx 30HP more for take off = and move the torque from 345 lb-ft to 455 lb-ft or a gain of approx 110 = lb-ft torque for take off. According to my spreadsheet that would move = the take off HP from around 155 up to 185 for a standard day - in the = cooler weather of all, it will be even more impressive. Actually, I'm tearing out my hair trying to figure out why my digitized = Fuel Monitoring system is giving me the Flow rate (gal/hour) to within = 0.1 % accurate (compared to the pulse train signal says it should = indicate), but the fuel totalizer is off by a factor of 3. I suspect = that because I am using every pulse for measurement that the chip stays = in the loop servicing the interrupt routine so much that the counting = circuit elsewhere does not get updated as it should. Hopefully, I will have it figured out before the gearbox gets here.
