The EC2 always fires the plugs together. Tracy found that splitting the
timing of the plugs does not significantly improve performance. However,
retarding the timing of the trailing plugs did significantly reduce their
ability to run the engine independently in the event of the failure of the
primary plugs or coils.
Otherwise the EC2 provides 4 deg of timing advance at low MAP. You can
adjust the transition point to any MAP you want. You can also have the
transition points for the two computers set at different MAP values. That
way you can have a total of 8 deg of retard as you go up in boost by
switching between computers (i.e.) use one computer for high boost
applications, and the other for economy cruise and landing. This is what I
plan, as soon as I figure out how I am going to determine the best timing.
