According to the inventor, the wing loading of the “lifting” surfaces allows it to glide much like a Cessna in the event of an engine failure.  It is pretty light.

I figured it would be OK once you get "flying" speed, but what about the time you'll spend in vertical takeoff, landing, and transition?  There's probably some autorotation properties to the fan, but would the craft be controllable?  I sure keep hoping to see one of these VTOL designs work.
