Subject: [FlyRotary] smaller = injectors,=20 same idle

Greetings,

I tried to install = two =9288 NA=20 injectors that I got from Mazda, but found that the pintle was too = large to=20 fit the plastic parts that are in the block.  Rats!!!  Otherwise, = they're the same size as the 89-91 turbo injectors I had.  Fortunately, I had the ones = that Tommy=20 sent, which are 89-91 NA injectors. =20 These are also 460 cc, but had the oval plug, rather than the = square=20 one that I was trying to end up with. =20 Since the oval plug fits the plugs that I already have, I = installed=20 these 460=92s as primaries for = now, and=20 tried them out.  My original goal was to improve idle, = and end up=20 with the square plugs that you can get from MSD.  I can forget = the square=20 plugs for now, but at least the idle should improve.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell there's = no difference at all. =20 The idle is the same, and very little change was made in the = map=20 settings.  The only = change was at=20 lower throttle, but that actually was a little off before.  Just hard to believe that it = didn=92t=20 make any difference.  Idle is smooth down to about 1500, which is = OK, but=20 lower would be better.

Also, the B = controller still=20 runs rough at near idle.  This started with the latest intake, and I = can't=20 imagine why.  I know this is just a tuning thing, = but I=92ll=20 be damned if I can make it happy. =20 Tried copy a to b, default settings, and=20 Tracy=92s settings as a = starting=20 point, but no joy.  = It=92s running=20 fine, except when transitioning to idle, and when trying to maintain=20 idle.  Very odd.  This is=20 good enough for a backup controller, but it bugs me that I can't make = it as=20 good as I've had it in the past.

At this = point, I need=20 to put some hours on this thing, and get out of my experimental = time. =20 I'd be willing to bet that the airport neighbors are pretty tired of = hearing=20 me tuning too :-)

Rusty, is your manifold pressure source = different for=20 B than A?? Different plug, different=20 location??
