Jerry,
Thanks for the link. I am also interested in the peripheral port design and hope it will work.

Joe, I am planning on using dual Setrabs part number 613. They are the right size. Over all around 13 x 4 x2. The core is 11.25 x 4 x 2. Rated for 300 psi and used in race cars. They have many sizes and shapes. I believe Lynn Hanover uses Setrabs in his race car. You can view them on C & R's web page: http://www.crracing.com. I'm not aware of anyone trying these in an aircraft. Jerry

Ed,
Yes, I was looking at using two of the third gen coolers I think John Slade is running them but only found one on Mazda parts web site. After the strakes are done I plan to work on the scoop for the evaporator cores while the plane is upside down. This might be a good time to do the oil cooler also.

Joe,
Early on, Lou Ross send me an A/C core with AN fittings for use as an
Oil cooler. I never tried it, seeing as how I figured the oil had more
viscosity than water, my concern was about the small cross channels in the
core and whether it would handle the flow. I did try one of Earl's oil
coolers and was unsuccessful, but to be fair, it could have been the
location (12" from Firewall), but my (and others) success with the stock oil
cooler make it hard to beat.
The 93RX-7 and later, has two smaller oil coolers that might be more
amenable to your physical space constraints. I never had one, so don't know
their dimensions, but you might check it out.
