Have a friend with a big Hirth in a two
place Challenger. He has made at LEAST three forced landings due to unexplained
engine failure (he suspects carb ice).
I love two strokes, too... as long as it is
on a motorcycle or weedeater. A two stroke is just too finicky for an airplane
to suit me. They are small compact, and produce lots of power... but when they
fail, they usually fail completely and disatrously with very little
warning. Mike C.
