My research shows that they VERY ofter leak (GASOLINE!!!) and are not really needed. Correct on both counts, not needed, and the leading cause of FD fires (not sure about FC's). On the steel primary rail that I used before, it was built in, and couldn't easily be removed. It's removed from my current aluminum rail, and won't be coming back.
