My vast level of inexperience has risen up and bit me as I’ve been informed that what I have is an early “EM2” w/out the display. I was under the false impression that the Tracy sold the “EM3” without a "built in” display as my EM2 has.. Since I already have an “EM-2”, I’m going to take Finn’s suggestion and purchase a display and see if I can wire a 15 pin D-Sub to it and get it to work.
Since my current one will not light up the display, I also am going to crack it open and see if there is anything obvious keep that from happening like a poor solder joint, so did Tracy put some sort of fuse in it to protect the display???
I’m pressing ahead towards a first engine start since it appears my EC2 is working well and tested the injectors and also got all the plugs to fire up. Today I hooked up fuel pumps to their wires and those old units are making noise, so will add some fuel tomorrow and see if there are any leaks, etc. After that all that is left is to add some water and reinstall the leading plugs and see if it will start.
PS: I had an old “mechanical” oil pressure gauge with tubing lying around, so I plumbed that into a 1/8 NPT oil hole and will use that to confirm oil pressure if it starts. I also have an infra red hand held temp gauge that I can shoot temps off radiators, etc.; but if it starts it won’t be running for long initially…
