Using the ring gear Tooth Method, set your advance as per Tracy’s manual (25 btdc?) then manually rotate the Crank Angle sensor to align with pick up.

Bill: Thanks for those suggestions…I had forgotten there also was a “shower of sparks” mode, to test the coils, and have re-read all the troubleshooting section and modes to refresh my fading memory!
Tracked down the problem and now have spark on both A and B sides of the EC2, and also when cranking; so one step closer to a start up.
Got to now get the EM2 to power up so I can monitor temps and pressures, add some water and hopefully make some noise!

It has been years since my plane moved to another owner, but he had a similar problem after removal and reinstall of the engine. The problem was the very short ground from the coils on the wall to the engine got removed. recheck your grounding DIRECT to engine.
I also remember that the EC-2 had a mode that would fire the plugs repeatedly (similar to the function for the injectors) have you tried that? If they fire with that function and not when cranking, then the problem would lie with the trigger signal

I’m attempting to get to the point where I can perform my first engine run, and got all four injectors “clicking” now after changing two out and redoing control switch wiring (I really like the “primer” feature that Tracy added!). Tonight I cranked the engine over with plugs hooked up on LS-1 coils and grounded to the engine, and sadly none of those wold fire. I had hoped at least a couple would, but that was not to be. I have power a good ground to the GM connect that feeds the coils, so was wondering if any have any additional troubleshooting steps I can employ, in hopes to getting the plugs to fire?
