Hi Dennis
I had an interesting occurrence of something similar last year. Really rough running for a period of maybe a dozen seconds.
I probably should have immediately switched to B comp but chose instead to play with mixture to no effect and then the problem went away.
I instinctively went for mixture as I have often had a missing issue if mixture went too rich on takeoff and higher power.
I changed the plugs as they were due and as a precaution. The old plugs looked fine but I know I dropped one of them previously so was suspicious.

The symptom hasn’t repeated, but it may not have been a plug.

Cheers

I have an RX-8 in my RV-7a with Tracy’s EC-2 and EM-2.  Recently while cruising the engine lost some power and went into a rough mode.   It only lasted about 2 seconds and returned to smooth running as soon as I switched to the B controller.   I landed and have been running it on the ground to determine the cause.  It has occurred 3 or 4 more times and only lasts seconds.  I believe I have determined that one rotor quits firing when it runs rough.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix?
