Paul,
Having just been through this, I'll try to answer your question. Keep in mind that
I am using SS headers, but I think I have an answer anyway. I used the EGT
sensors that comes with a weld-on bung. The bungs are male thread on one end and
have a shoulder on the other end. Since you have a cast iron manifold, I would drill
and tap a hole at each exhaust port and make a screw-in fitting by welding the
bungs that come with the EGT's to a second fitting that matches the holes you just drilled. Then just screw them into
the cast manifold.
Or, if you know a very good welder, drill holes and have him weld the bungs to the
manifold.
A third approach might be to make new fittings that are threaded on each end. Easy if you have
access to a lathe. But I don't, but do have a tig welder, so as they say "when all
you have is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail." You could just thread the
bungs into the manifold and then screw the EGT probes onto the fittings.

Well, now that I have my 13b running smoothly, I need to address the
installation of an EGT probe. I have the Microtech ECU, and an AV-10
engine monitor. It is my desire to connect the EGT and CHT probes to the
AV-10 engine monitor. I'm assuming that I can just purchase and install the
spark plug ring type sensors for the CHT.
As far as the EGT, I have the original cast iron manifold, with the
oxygen sensor. (My Microtech ECU likes that). For those of you that are
using the stock cast iron manifold, where did you install your probe for
EGT? Attached is an older picture of my exhaust system. Thanks for any
and all suggestions. It sure is fun making hmmmmmmm noises. I am pleased
that it is not as loud as I thought it might have been. Thanks again to
all. Paul Conner
