Yeah, I'm going for at least 1/2" clearance all around the bell mouths. Preferably an inch in front of them.

Going to be a tough compromise in the RV-4 cowling. To get the box a close to the cowling as possible, the runners have to be tilted down 2".?? Not a good thing if excess fuel in the runners -- will drain back down into the box.

Thus giving more distance to the bell mouths. The owner chose pretty over power, and added a see through window. But note the bell mouths. Too close to the center line wall of the box and not enough distance to the bellmouth from the window.?? Adequate volume but not over the intakes.??

Performance less than expected. Better than the competition but could have been much better.
