A couple things: yes, the increase in airspeed will help : 110k - 150k is a= bout 36%; will be interesting to see if your cooling follows in linear fash= ion. Too much pressure in the cowl from an undersized outlet is highly unl= ikely - to over-pressurise (a balloon or tire) it takes both a sealed inlet= and a seal outlet - the cowling will flow as much air as it can; the rest = will simply never enter the openings. On the other hand, if you have leaks= into the cowling that are not part of your cooling ducts this DOES increas= e pressure under the cowling and will work against the low pressure area ne= eded behind your heat exchangers. Good luck and keep up the posts as you move forward ... Jeff Hi People The Glasair has finally left the ground and had a successful first flight. I've attached a graph of the data. OAT was 63F I was really very pleased given our smallish 20in2 coolant inlet area and <= 9in2 oil inlet area for ~190hp. The temps are a bit hot (~220F) but we didn't go beyond 110 knots. I suspec= t when we get the airspeed up above 150knots into her nose we'll see some i= mprovement. My hunch is we might have too much pressure in the cowl. The exit air area = is approx. 30in2. Appreciate any of your thoughts from the first flight data. Cheers Steve Izett Glasair Super II RG Renesis 4 port RD1C EC3 EM3
