Well Said Charlie. Great to hear from you again Ed.

UH-OH. Maybe I should have never have
passed that 1st flight physical....
Hi, Ed. I get it; we'll all have to face that decision at some
point, if we're fortunate enough to live that long. Do know that
you're missed at all our rotary gatherings. Please stay on the
list, and keep contributing.

Thanks for the kind words, Todd
While it was a difficult decision to give up my rotary baby
due to all of the great times and exchanges with all of you
folks, my self evaulation indicated that it was the right time
to do it. While foruntately in great health, I had notice
that I was becoming more easily distracted - that wasn't
so bad, but I found more often that I was not getting back to
the point before the distraction. I concluded that added to the
risk factor and throw in 8 decades of living and it was time to
make the decision. A couple of sucessful engine-out experiences
fortunately ending in successful, no-damage landings and my
youngest sisters warning that my "guardian Angle" was not
getting any younger either - and the decision was made.
I intended to sell the airframe minus the rotary
installation, but David cited his rotary racing experience with
the engine and desire to fly it with rotary convinced me to
leave it in.
I still monitor the list and although I no longer make much
of a contribution, it just feels good to hear you guys carry on.
Best Regards
Ed

Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: New Member
When I first joined this list back in 2000, the
list name was actually "PlugsUp" as it was my understanding
that it was formed due to the moderator of the "other list"
refusing to allow any discussion of such heresy. The list
quickly became populated with builders such as myself that
while not pursuing a plugs-up installation for my own
project, we did value the open and thoughtful discussion
that was contributed by those that were either banned or
voluntarily left the other list. Soon the list changed name
to the current "FlyRotary" name to better reflect the
membership, but while the focus was no longer on plugs-up
installations, the contributions by Ed and his experiences
were many of the most valuable during my build.
His regular contributions are sorely missed, and
while it is sad that his flying days are over, I am very
pleased to hear that his aircraft will soon be back in the
sky and that you've joined the list as well.

David: Yes i have read
an article about the installation and expecially the
"trials and tribulations " and how he sorted out all the
growing pains of the installation.
For all the R&D that was done i am very grateful.
My installation is a footprint of his setup but only a p
port.
Thanks let us now when the "bluebird RV6 " is in the
hangar.

many hours he has on the current installation, which is
plugs up. I know it is several hundred. There was
apparently much debate about the pro’s and con’s of the
plugs up installation back at the time. He says that none
of the con’s that had been postulated by others ever
appeared in those several hundred hours of flight time. I
have been very impressed with the design and analysis that
Ed put into every aspect of his installation. Maybe Ed
will chime in here soon.

never been in any discussion with a Plugs up engine, but I
do recall it creates grief as well. What do you do with
the sump? Sure anything can be altered, but every time
you alter something it takes both time and money. I no
longer have either, so tend to keep it simple and standard
where possible. Welcome to the group, there are many
brilliant minds here with lots of experience and great
