Kelly, I am intrigued, How does the engine bolt together as in
do the draw bolts screw into the alloy alone, or are there steel
inserts? What advantages in the mistral front section over stock?
I agree fully with a turbo normalize engine simply for replacing
a complicated muffler system. Heavy, yes, but so is an exhaust
system once it is all added up. A turbo also gives much
flexibility when needed , Take off in trying situations --
altitude--- noise reduction. Looking at placing the Aftercooler
on top of the wedge diffuser. Have to experiment with that yet to
see just where the air goes. Neil.
Neil,
The engine is still in pieces and the exhaust is not
decided............I may turbo-normalize
which may do away with the need for a muffled exhaust
system.......The alum center and
rear housings are an expensive 29 lb weight reduction (prop
end of the engine)..........<:)
Had I used the alum front side hsg another 10.5 lbs would
be lost.........Attached is link
to "Racing Beat"............
