Rusty,
My EM-2 is on its way.  Can you shed some light any possible gotcha's.

Mark S.

Hi Mark,

It's a little early for that question, because I'm still working on the sensor hook-up.  Unfortunately, my most productive activity today was lunch :-)

Seriously, so far, everything has gone pretty well.  I had to call Tracy today because the liquid temp 2 and 3 inputs didn't seem to work.  He explained that you need to put a 200 ohm resistor in parallel with the VDO sensor for each of those.  He put the resistor on the board for water temp, and oil temp, but figured that leaving off the resistor gives the user more latitude to use odd sensor types on the extra temp inputs.  I'll be hitting Rat Shack tomorrow to see if he's making this up :-)

Speaking of sensors, I would suggest that you get the exact sensors that he recommends, unless you're a true glutton for science experiments.  The unit is programmable for virtually any sensor range, but you'll certainly spend some time doing it.  At the moment, I don't have the patience to test all this to the Nth degree, so I'm ordering some new pressure sensors in the morning.  It's not as wasteful as it might sound, because I have gauges that match the sensors that I have.  I'll just put the sensors with the gauges, and use them on the Airbike, or ???  I have a calibrated thermocouple, and will be double checking Tracy's calibrations on the temps.  A quick check today showed that they were within about 10 degrees, which is good enough for now.

I'll certainly post more when I get everything hooked up and learn how to use it.

Cheers,
Rusty
