Neil,
I have been on the PL "banned" list before. I asked too many questions. I offered many ideas that were "silly" at the time and a year later were brought up to be a new thought on the newsletter, and the best thing since sliced bread. I was one of the first to suggest using a outboard gen/ign/cdi flywheel and ignition. Dumb Idea then came back around about a year ago. Motorcycle parts, single ignition coils, coil on sparkplug, and using a dry sump oil control. All not needed until they work.

Dave,   You are alive after all!  Yep great record and just needs another prop to better the record and possibly a few other things,  but not having been there it is unfair to comment.  I think I insulted PL when I suggested it was worth only about $50,000 to buy back.  $30,000 for the engine and $20,000 for the rest.  The motec ECU was a very expensive error in hindsight.  I cannot understand where the $500,000 went to, to the effect that they now cannot afford to find $5000 for another prop.    If the figures are correct some one did very well out of the exercise.  Then I wasn't there as I said. I was told that PL did all his work for nothing, as not being paid, so he is to be congratulated for that.  The pilot seemed to be VERY conservative.  Better stop before I get into trouble.  Neil.

Hi All,

I just realized that I had not seen mention of this on the the FlyRotary list.

A top fuel rotary powered Harmon Rocket recently crushed the World Time To Climb record to 3000M (10000ft), shaving more that 20 seconds off the previous record of over 2 min to 1 min 40 sec.

Rare Bear (a highly modified and famous Bearcat) once set that record at 1:32 but it has been retired due to change of rules.

There is talk of giving it another try and beat even Rare Bear's unofficial record.
