I have used Teflon insulat= ed aircraft wire, Found Nitral stock, Old used Mazda "O" ring material and = my friends
have used 18 Gage hookup w= ire (Probably Chinese) with  a thin coating of GE silicone in the groo= ve and a drop at the cut ends. Put the joint between the intake and exhaust= area. Never a failure at 250 HP. Most seal companies have "O" ring stock i= n many sizes and materials by the foot.

You also put a thin coatin= g of Silicone on the mating surface of the aluminum housings and the l= egs that go down to the pan surface.

Torque case bolts to the l= ower spec number in five passes. Tomorrow in the same torque sequence, I re= move the bolts one at a time in order, put Nickle antisieze on the threads = and on both sides of the washer. Install that bolt and torque to lowest spe= c number. In a few hours torque again and notice that some of the bolts mov= e even further. A dot on the iron and similar on the bolt head shows how fa= r the bolt has turned after the stock torque method has been used. Have a f= ew extra bolts on hand to cover a soft bolt.

Turn engine over a few tim= es. Now remove strands of excess silicone through the exhaust port. Worked = for me for 30 years.
