The Mazda RX-3 had a 4 barrel carb with a float that could hold back about
3 PSI. A fitting on the fuel line let anything that did not drop into the carb
to return to the tank. The fuel pump was a little square vibrator style that
could not function if flow was cut off. It would heat the fuel inside it. It had
very small displacement and could loose its prime easily. But it got the
coolest fuel to the carb at high flow demand periods.
