Mark Steitle fabricated a similar design but with a tangential entry. The muffler work ok but caused a large increase in EGT's. Actually overheated the outer water jacket O-ring and trashed an O-ring groove. He planned to rebuild with more holes in the inner tube. I think the inner tube was 2.5" Inconel. Might baseline your current header egt's before testing this one.
