Mark Steitle fabricated a similar design but with a tangential entry.  The muffler work ok but caused a large increase in EGT's. Actually overheated the outer water jacket O-ring and trashed an O-ring groove. He planned to rebuild with more holes in the inner tube. I think the inner tube was 2.5" Inconel.  Might baseline your current header egt's before testing this one.

photos show latest muffler which for some reason has taken the "bark"
out of the note.  Yet to be fully tested beyond a few hours.  All done with slip joints and 321 S/S.  The OZ peasant. Neil
