I tried to install my engine with an off set of 1.5 degrees right and 1.5 degrees down. It matches pretty well with the cowling. The spinner that came with the prop is 13.5 inch diameter at the base and the cowling seems to be made for a spinner of 14 inches, so I have a quarter inch mismatch to where the spinner meets the cowl. I could probably try and fair that in, but I haven't. A lot of effort and maybe no gain?? It takes very little right rudder to keep it straight on the takeoff roll and climb out. William,

I don’t have a Sam James = Cowling, but my cowling from Lancair has an offset in the way the prop matches up = to it.  I tried to install my engine with an off set of 1.5 degrees = right and 1.5 degrees down.  It matches pretty well with the cowling.  = The spinner that came with the prop is 13.5 inch diameter at the base and the = cowling seems to be made for a spinner of 14 inches, so I have a quarter inch mismatch = to where the spinner meets the cowl.  I could probably try and fair = that in, but I haven’t.  A lot of effort and maybe no gain??  It = takes very little right rudder to keep it straight on the takeoff roll and = climb out.

Did you offset your = engine?
