Just catching up with this after getting home from vacation.

Yes, the RX-8 / 13BREW sensor is problematic with the earlier EC2, especially on the Renesis trigger wheel which has an asymmetrical trigger pattern.  First step is to parallel it with a 1K resistor.   There are other additional fixes I've used as well.   The next level is to put  back to back 2.4V zener diodes (in series) across the CAS.   I do this on all EC2s returned for changing to BREW and Renesis engine use.

Bobby,

I don't have a CAS that came from a 13B-REW.  However a parts search comes up with the same part number for the 13B-REW and Renesis CAS.

Steve,

The RX8 circuit uses a resistor across and in line with the CAS leads. I remember Tracy saying the Renesis CAS was just different enough to cause problems with his older EC2’s. It would be interesting to test with the pre-renesis 13-REW CAS.
