Engines need three things to start. 1. Fuel in a combustible ratio with air 2. Spark at the right time 3. Compression Find out which one (or more) is missing and you will have the answer. Ether will light off in a very wide range of F/A mixtures. When trouble = shooting these things I don't hesitate to use a shot of ether to eliminat= e fuel as the problem. Use the kind with lubricant in it.
