You crack me up man. It's not about one example (of someone who could not post due to the blacklisting of Cox.) There are many. Too boot, bringing to ANYONE'S attention gets you nowhere.
I'm open to other explanations of the reduced traffic on the list since last spring. The economy was already sour so that's not it.
I've got it! Bear with me here for a second!
Will everyone who has Cox as their Internet Service Provider please email the list now!
...............anyone ..........
:-)
Wait a minute ........ based on your post on 7/16, you already know this.
Never mind. __________________________________________________________________________________
7/16/2011 Dave, Please accept my apologies for using you as an intermediary for
this, but I'm apparently now in the same situation as Al Geitzen. Could you
please share this with the group? I hope Marv reads this. I did some
follow up on the reject message I got, and it's not COX that is blocking the
mail - it is LOGAN.COM, the host
of the lancaironline list. They are using some blackmai... er, blacklisting
service out of Germany which claims Al and I "live in a bad neighborhood" (cox
dot net). They claim that the 68.n.n.n subnet is allowing "abusers" to
proliferate. I tried to re-subscribe from another mail service (gmail),
but I get rejected mail there, too -- albeit for a different reason: the server
doesn't seem to recognize the "postmaster" address any more. I tried the one
from the lists page " postmaster@lancaironline.net" and
extrapolated " postmaster@lancair.net" from the
Marvin's root page. Both get rejected as "unknown user account (state
14)". Does anyone know of an alternative way of re-subscribing? Or
perhaps Marvin could reset some parameters so that Al and I can actually
~participate~ in the list again, instead of being read-only? Or maybe the list
is running on auto-pilot and he has no idea what engaging "uceprotect" is doing
to the list? Dale_R COZY rotary MkIV #497 Ch. 13, 16, 22 &
