   The Elison throttle body wont flow enough air unless you run two of them with is cost prohibitive.

You "do" know that they have more than one size right :-)   
 
The largest is for engines from 300 to 350 HP.  I'm pretty sure that would flow enough for me :-)

 The last I talked to Elison the largest one they had was 1.5 inch or 37.5 bore rated at 350 CFM and they told me that it would work fine for a Mazda which is bull shit as you need at least 650 CFM to get any kind of real power out of a rotary.
 
Yes you can put a little carb like that on a IO 540 and it will work fine but just look a the crude intake manifold they have, they don't need efficient intake as they depend on the massive cubic inches to draw the air in.
