. However on my application it is actually a plus. How
much HP do you estimate on your Velocity?
Tom
Mine
is ormally aspirated with the 9:1 rotors. Before break-in, the dyno runs gave
WOT power (corrected to sea level, standard day) shown below. Max prop
rpm is 3000 (6500 engine); so ‘rated’ power is 275 hp. But
then of course we never fly at sea level. Takeoff WOT climb is typically less
than 250 hp; cruise power at altitude more like 150 hp. That gets me lean
cruise of 170 KTAS at 10 gph. Quite satisfactory.

I
have no comment about the quality/capacity of the Marcotte; but I think the 2.4
ratio is a good one. I had considered the Marcotte for that reason, but liked
the in-line drive of the planetary, and had more confidence in Tracy’s overall design and coupling design.

Turbo/20B
Thanks Kelly for the reply...Guy Marcotte claims 600HP
is not a problem....I would really like to hear from others with first hand
knowledge...I just read of his PSRU being used on a Glassair /Suburu project.
They had broken the gear ,but it was from a prop strike...I am gathering up
what I need to mock this up in the Airframe and need to make a decision on it
fairly soon...Honestly I had made my mind up it was the best choice for my
application .

What HP rating is Marcotte claiming for his PSRU

Does anyone have any experience using a 2.40 gear reduction on the 20B? I am
going to use the Marcotte PSRU only because he has a much higher HP
Rating and it is only offered in the 2.40 ratio in the configuration I am
using. However I notice everyone uses the 2.85 more commonly. Is there a
specific reason why this would be better for the 20B?. I would appreciate any
input any of you might have to offer.
