Tom, as mentioned I have the Marcotte
Redrive. I have read of numerous problems in the contact magazine, I have
lost the gear lube twice, once was due to a vent/recirculation tank plumbed for
cooling, the second time the output shaft seal came out in flight resulting in a
fire in which the rollout resulted in a flip in a wheat field. My
machinist friend is going to dissemble the redrive this week and check the
output shaft for damage by dye and current and make a mechanical retainer to
keep the output shaft seal in. I'm glad that the gear breakage was
mentioned, as I will have him check the gear also. I had no luck getting
support from Marcotte and all the damage reports and solutions to the
problems with the Marcotte I've seen have been in the Contact Magazine.
