Subject:
[FlyRotary] Purging rad type cabin heaters
For
you guys that have installed these rads, are there any issues
with
air entrapment in these installations?
The
one I have has inlet and outlet on one end which I was
planning
to mount downward. Once hooked up will the water pump
move
the air in the coils out of the system and back to the high
point
in the engine compartment or should it be mounted to
facilitate
purging the air?
Thanks
Peter
Peter;
I have a 7 x 7 core
with the inlet and outlet on the same end, but mounted it with that end up. I
was concerned about air being trapped in the line, but verifyied that the flow
would purge the air out of the 5/8 hose. The flow velocity in the end
tank of the heater core is likely considerably lower, and some air is likely to
be trapped. You’ll have to decide whether it would be enough to be
concerned about; just adds a little compressibility to the system. Then
decide if you can turn the thing over, or add an air bleed.
