Check out Zetex.  (http://www.newtex.com/il_fabrics.html)  Fairly expensive but does the job.  I think the last batch we bought was about $65/yd.  We've lined Ted's cowl with it, most of the Lancair folks use it to protect the insides of their cowls in the areas that face the turbos and exhausts.  It attaches to the cowl with red RTV.  We also wrapped some of the exhaust pipes with exhaust tape, mostly to provide a heat shadow in crowded areas.  We didn't cover any welds or joints... those things need to be accessible for inspection.  The turbos have their own heat shields.  I thought I had some photos of the cowl linings, but apparently not.  If I remember I'll try to get some tomorrow and send them along.
